as of 6:00 p.m. this evening. the big difference between yesterday and today, though, are the dew point temperatures. yesterday these numbers were in the 77, 78-degree range. so the humidity today only 37%, as opposed to 50-plus percent yesterday. that's made all the difference in the world. air temperatures today, no bargain. upper 90s to touchg 100 degrees. heat index values, though, yesterday we topped out at 121 in d.c. now, only -- only -- 107. temperatures staying mid to upper 90s for the next hour or so. back down only to the upper 80s by 11:00 p.m. one or two random rain drops. very little in the way of widespread coverage. this storm on top of front royal right now. there's more showers up here right along the maryland/pennsylvania border. those won't be bothering us. most of this activity will fade away. only an isolated chance of shower overnight. more organizing storms pack up to the north and west. that's part of the next weather change, that will be coming our way. the heat remains in place. we'll at least have the heat excessive advisory tomorrow. up around 100 to 105 deg
